John Laforme

John Laforme is turtle clan; he descends from the Ojibwe and Mohawk people from Mississauga’s of New Credit, a reservation in south central Ontario near Brantford Ont. He grew up in a traditional household where his traditional teachings were passed on to him from his family and these teachings are at the core of his identity and understanding of himself and his community.
He graduated from the community health worker program at George Brown College in 2016 but has spent the last 10 yrs working in the social services field with the majority of his work with the Indigenous community here in the Greater Toronto area.
He currently works at Anishnawbe Health Toronto as a Program Administrator working closely with the Diabetes Prevention Program helping the team bring these traditional teachings and knowledge to the community.
