PAS3700H Position Description

This course is the core course offered by the Collaborative Specialization in Addiction Studies (CoPAS). The Collaborative Specialization has been established to integrate graduate education in the field of addictions across departments in the School of Graduate Studies. Graduate departments participating in CoPAS are: Applied Psychology and Human Development; Criminology; Institute for Medical Science; Pharmacology; Pharmaceutical Sciences; Psychology; Psychological Clinical Science; Public Health Sciences; Social Work; and Sociology.

Instructor: Michael Chaiton

Qualifications:

PhD student. Having previously taken the course and prior TA experience and student in the Collaborative Specialization in Addictions Studies are advantages.

Duties:

a) Marking essays and assignments (3), b) course preparation,
c) contact with instructor

Relevant Criterion:

The need to acquire experience is the more relevant criterion than previous experience in respect of this posted position.

Rate of Pay:
Winter 2024: SGS1, SGS11 & PDFs: 51.93 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
Summer 2024: SGS1, SGS11 & PDFs: 51.93 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
Fall 2024: SGS1, SGS11 & PDFs: 51.93 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

Four (4) hours of mandatory TA training for newly appointed TAs are offered through Teaching Assistants’ Training Program (TATP) as noted in the USW Collective Agreement, Local 3902, Unit 1.
