DEGREE PROGRAM OPTIONS
DOCTORAL PROGRAMS
The Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program – the first ever offered by a Canadian university, focuses on accelerating the use of research evidence to inform practice and policy. The DrPH program offers practice-based training and applied research skills. Students will develop and advance important key leadership, management, and public health practice competencies. DLSPH is exceptionally well suited to deliver the program, given our outstanding Faculty with expertise in such areas as health system and public health leadership, evidence appraisal and public health, knowledge translation and implementation, public health policy and ethics, Indigenous health, and global health.
The PhD program is truly multi-, inter- and trans-disciplinary, exposing students to the full breadth and depth of public health. The PhD degree is offered in four fields of study: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Occupational and Environmental Health and Social & Behavioural Health Sciences — one of the few doctoral level programs in social and behavioural science in all of Canada. The PhD program’s strength is reflected in the success of our graduates, who hold leadership, research, and academic positions in universities, teaching hospitals, research institutes, health agencies, and industry. The PhD degree is offered as a 4-yr full-time or a 6-year flexible-time program.
