Current Research Projects
Common Language for Intimate Partner Violence Risk Appraisal (CELIA)
- The CELIA IPV Project is a police/researcher partnership between researchers and police services in three Canadian provinces to study and share evidence-based approaches for assessing risk of IPV and to identify how police can recognize and respond to non-physical, coercive, and controlling behaviours when assessing IPV risk. https://www.celia-ipv-project.ca/
Trauma Among Psychiatric Workers Project
- This project surveyed staff at psychiatric hospitals in Ontario, Canada, two-thirds of whom reported being directly exposed to at least one critical event. Along with interviews, focus groups, and stakeholder events, this project resulted in 12 recommendations, with plans to evaluate implementation in psychiatric healthcare settings. https://www.traumaamongpsychiatricworkers.net/
Forensic Mental Health Services Research
- Most research about individuals in forensic psychiatric care focuses on patient deficits and criminal offending. In contrast, this project examines adjustment, physical health, treatment needs, and progress, in a cohort of 638 men admitted to forensic hospital for assessment or treatment. https://www.growkudos.com/projects/forensic-mental-health-services-research-lab
