We are delighted to announce Dr. Jukka Takala, President of the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH), as the speaker in the next Webinar in our series: Taking Stock; Moving Forward – Reflections on Occupational Health in the time of COVID. This series explores what we have been learning from the pandemic and how we can use this experience to work towards positive change in occupational and public health.
Dr. Takala will document how COVID-19 has revealed gaps in workers’ protection and how it has compounded the risks which already fall disproportionately on the most vulnerable workers. He sees hope, however, in that cutting-edge tools and concepts from other disciplines (e.g. “Social Value”) can be adapted to occupational health to redress some of these imbalances.
Dr. Takala has a unique, global perspective on workers’ health as a result of his many years leading occupational health policy and programs at the international level (for the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the European Union (EU-OSHA)), as well as at the national level.
Dr. Takala’s talk will be followed by a Question and Answer session.
