About the event
Title: “Understanding differences in work injury and disability of mobile workers in Canada”
Geographically-mobile workers make up a small but important proportion of the Canadian workforce. Due to their characteristics and nature of work, they face unique challenges in terms of work injury and work disability. Using a combination of workers’ compensation data and other secondary data, this seminar will explore differences in work-related injury and work disability outcomes of mobile workers compared to less/non-mobile workers from a series of studies and discuss policy implications.
Speaker: Dr. Robert Macpherson
Dr. Macpherson is a Senior Research Associate with the Partnership for Work, Health and Safety (PWHS) at the University of British Columbia’s School of Population and Public Health. He specializes in using large administrative data to address policy-relevant research. He has led comparative research on work disability across Canada and Australia as well as evaluations on the effectiveness of occupational health and safety interventions.
