About Professor Emeritus Paul N. Corey
Prof. Paul N. Corey was a beloved colleague, friend and educator at the University of Toronto for more than half a century. He was a mentor to countless students, including many who are now leaders in Canada, the US and around the world.
Paul loved life and loved people. His impact was felt across the University, especially in the field of biostatistics. He treated colleagues and students as family. Paul opened his home to the entire biostatistics community at DLSPH, hosting big lunches and holiday parties where colleagues, students and their families were always welcome. To this day, the biostatistics division feels like family because of the community he created. We invite you to join this event for a celebration with the Corey family, friends, colleagues, students, alumni, and all who had the fortune to know him.
Aside from research and teaching, for which he won many awards, Paul led the graduate program in Biostatistics as Director for 15 years (1986-2001), and served as Associate Chair of the Department of Public Health Sciences (1998-2002) and as Associate Director of Education at DLSPH (2009-2010).
After his retirement in 2016, Paul continued to contribute to our community. He established the Paul Corey Awards for Excellence in Biostatistics and the Paul Corey Scholarship for Applied Research in Biostatistics, supporting students for their academic achievements and their contributions to the betterment of community and student life. If you’d like to support his legacy, contributions can be made through the DLSPH Campaign (Gift 1, Gift 2).
