The Biostatistics Seminar Series presents:

“Contributing as a Statistician to Health Technology Assessments” by Dr. Eleanor Pullenayegum, Hospital for Sick Children

Abstract: Health technology assessments play an important role in provincial decisions around which treatments and technologies should be publicly funded. Statisticians can make valuable contributions to these evaluations, for example through multi-state modelling, meta-analyses, and employing methods for causal inference. However, our statistical skills are only as valuable as our communication and collaborative skills. In this talk, Dr. Pullenayegum will give a brief overview of the methods and models used in health technology assessments, then highlight through a case study the importance of good communication and the interesting questions that can arise through collaboration.
