Course Description

This seminar series is a third-year course requirement for DrPH students. It is intended to catalyze the implementation science component of the DrPH Thesis. It will give the students an understanding of the spectrum of implementation science and its components, familiarize them with methodologies, and guide them in utilizing it to maximize the impact of their thesis and real-world environments. Students will have an opportunity to discuss the topic for their research study.

Course Objectives

The objectives of this course are as follows:

  1. To understand the spectrum of implementation science and core components of implementation practice;
  2. To gain familiarity with emerging topics and methodology in implementation science;
  3. To utilize implementation science in an applied setting (based on your thesis work).

Methods of Assessment

Development a practice profile the intervention, innovation, or practice that is the focus of your dissertation. 30%
Development of the section of your methods chapter on the implementation approach that applies to your DrPH Thesis. 50%
Participation 20%

General Requirements

All students should have an approved thesis topic before enrollment in the course. A draft of Form 5 (Thesis Proposal Form) must be submitted to the Course Instructor and DrPH Program Director before the start of class. Should your thesis proposal not be completed, an exception will be provided by the Program Director.
