Bawatng Water Protectors
The Bawating Water Protectors are a grassroots collective located in Sault Ste. Marie ON. The collective was formed in 2016 in response to the call out from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota in their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline. The Bawating Water Protectors work to raise awareness on issues related to water, land and Indigenous rights. They have been instrumental in the development of a task force between the Anishinabek Nation, the Iroquois Caucus, the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility and the Ontario Clean Air Alliance as they collectively oppose the generation, transportation and burial of Radioactive waste which threatens our Mother Earth and future generations for hundreds of thousands of years to come. They have organized numerous demonstrations and events in their efforts to protect the lands and waters for our future generations.
