How did you become interested in your field?
I took an epidemiology class in my fourth year of my undergraduate degree and found it really interesting. Upon further research I decided to pursue my MPH.
Tell us about any interesting projects you are working on.
At the Ministry of Health I work predominantly with narcotics and OHIP data.
What do you enjoy most about your current career position?
I really enjoy the flexibility of the position and how easy it is to get involved in numerous projects. It made it easier to discover what area I found the most interesting and wanted to focus on.
In what ways has your experience at the School had an impact on your career and who you are today?
A lot of the classes I took were directly helpful with my current position.
How did your experiences at the School help you to overcome obstacles you’ve faced as a public health professional?
My experiences at the school have helped me deal with competing deadlines and working in a demanding environment.
What advice would you give to younger alumni or current students who aspire to follow a similar career path?
Try different practicums! They are great for figuring out what area of public health you are the most interested in.
What would you say to a prospective student who is considering the School?
It’s a great school that helps you build a lot of connections through meaningful practicums.
