Dean’s Alumni Advisory Council Update
January 2025
Dear Alumni,
As co-chairs of the Dean’s Alumni Advisory Council, we are delighted to update you on the transformation of alumni associations at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. In 2024, we completed the merger of past alumni associations, and relaunched as the Dean’s Alumni Advisory Council, with our first meeting in July 2024. This merger and relaunch is aimed at making an inclusive, sustainable, and focused body that will strengthen the connection between the school and all Dalla Lana alumni.
One of the milestones we are anticipating is the launch of the school’s new academic plan. Your feedback has been helpful in shaping this plan, and we are grateful for your insights. Many of you emphasized your professional growth and employability as major strengths of the school. Another strength is the supportive role of mentors, academic supervisors, and the collaborative learning environment that benefits us all, even after graduation.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the potential for alumni to foster the growth of DLSPH, through mentorship, supporting courses, and building connections to the broader public health community.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We look forward to sharing more alumni updates with you soon, and hope to see you at upcoming events.
Warm regards,
Jennifer Bell and Taylor Martin

Establishment of the Dean’s Alumni Advisory Council
The establishment of a new Dean’s Alumni Advisory Council was announced by Jennifer Mary Bell (MPH 2013) and Taylor Martin (MHSc 2015) at the 2024 Dean’s Alumni Cocktail Reception, which took place on May 30th during U of T’s Alumni Reunion weekend.
Jennifer Mary Bell, who served as President of the Public Health Alumni Association, and Taylor Martin, who served as President of the IHPME Alumni Association, and both most recently as co-presidents of the DLSPH Alumni Association in 2023-2024, are serving as the inaugural co-chairs. The new Dean’s Alumni Advisory Council replaces the existing Alumni Association structure, creating one Council comprised of alumni from across PHS and IHPME, enhancing collaboration and engagement across DLSPH.
The new Alumni Council meets three times annually and comprises a mix of alumni from across DLSPH’s programs (both PHS and IHPME) and focuses on alumni events, awards, mentorship and other special projects.
