DLSPH welcomes Victoria Arrandale as Assistant Professor of Occupational & Environment Health
November 1/2019
Victoria Arrandale joined the Graduate Department of Public Health Sciences in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health as Assistant Professor (tenure-stream) in the Occupational & Environment Health Division (OEH) on November 1, 2019.
Arrandale is an occupational health expert whose research focuses on assessing, developing and evaluating interventions to reduce occupational exposures. Her interest in occupational exposure and disease stems from her experience in the pulp and paper industry as a young worker.
She joined DLSPH in January 2014 as an Assistant Professor (status-only) and has co-instructed the Faculty’s Occupational Epidemiology course since 2013. She is also Associate Director and Scientist at Cancer Care Ontario’s Occupational Cancer Research Centre.
Her research focuses on exposure assessment and occupational epidemiology, specifically working to understand how occupational diseases – including cancer, skin and respiratory conditions – arise as a result of workplace exposures.
Arrandale is a U of T alumnae with a PhD in Medical Science (Occupational Health) from the Faculty of Medicine. She also holds a MSc in Occupational Hygiene from the University of British Columbia and a BSc in Biology from Simon Fraser University.
As a tenure-stream Assistant Professor, Arrandale will work closely with OEH Division Head James Scott and other faculty members on teaching, research and mentorship.
