DLSPH Open: 2016-17 Annual Report – Local Responsiveness Global Impact
July 6/2017
Dear colleagues,
Welcome to the first edition of DLSPH Open.
This biweekly communication to the DLSPH community will showcase our Faculty’s forward momentum and the progress that we are making towards achieving our shared vision to be the leading model for public health and health systems learning, research and service, with impact at local and global levels.
After five years under Howard’s leadership, our Faculty has a lot to celebrate. I am delighted to work with all of you over the coming year and support our productive group of scholars, administrators, students and staff to meet the challenges and maximize the opportunities that lie ahead.
I am pleased to share with you DLSPH’s 2016-17 Annual Report, “Local Responsiveness Global Impact,” a retrospective publication that covers achievements and milestones achieved under Howard’s leadership from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017. This report is a collection of stories that demonstrate progress towards achieving our shared vision and illustrate our Faculty’s significant contributions to health and health systems that are improving the health of Torontonians and people globally.
You may have seen the first entry in the DLSPH Blog, a digital platform to explore issues that impact public health and health systems scholars written by myself in collaboration with DLSPH faculty, staff and students. My aim with the DLSPH Blog is to offer insight on crucial public health and health system issues, and showcase the Faculty’s impact and social mission on a biweekly basis.
I have a short list of subjects that I plan to explore in the first few blog entries, but I welcome input and ideas from our entire community and invite folks to e-mail DLSPH Communications with topics, ideas or perspectives at any time.
This is an exciting time for the School and I look forward to building on the progress to date in a way that honours the University’s proud tradition in public health and health systems, and that enhances our collective contributions towards making Toronto one of the healthiest places to live.
Best regards,
Adalsteinn Brown
