Appointment of Professor Adalsteinn Brown as Interim Dean of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health

I am pleased to announce that the Agenda Committee of Academic Board has approved of the appointment of Professor Adalsteinn Brown as Interim Dean of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH), from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018 or until a new Dean is appointed.
Adalsteinn Brown is an Associate Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and currently serves as Director of the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the School, where he has sustained and grown its reputation as an interdisciplinary Institute known for excellent scholarship and collaborative partnerships. Professor Brown holds a number of other titles, including the Dalla Lana Chair in Public Health Policy and Scientist at Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Professor Brown has extensive leadership experience in various health-related sectors, from policy leadership with the Ontario Ministry of Health and other agencies provincially and nationally, to spearheading complex training challenges such as the IDEAS Program involving partnerships among multiple universities.
Professor Brown is highly regarded for his engaged and collegial leadership style as well as for his proficiency with the University’s budget model and administrative processes. His long-standing relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external constituents of the School and his familiarity with the School’s vision will provide continuity to the diverse landscape of DLSPH over the next year.
