Dean’s Message: August 2015
August 26/2015
Dear colleagues,
With summer coming to a close and a new academic year ahead, I hope everyone in our growing community (for those who missed the announcement, the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics (JCB) joined DLSPH in June) had a chance to recharge and are prepared for a prosperous fall term. Behind the scenes, our leadership continues to build the School’s profile and find new ways to engage with all members of our community.
I hope that many of you have had an opportunity to explore the School’s newly re-designed website and its new features, including student profiles and an interactive timeline of the School’s history. I am very pleased with how the DLSPH Website Committee curated a modern digital that uses stories, people and images to reignite a passion for public health. I think it will draw future students, partners and donors alike and look forward to continuing to build upon this compelling foundation.
I’d like to extend my thanks to all the faculty, staff, students, alumni, IHPME and JCB representatives who participated in the committee and helped us renew our online home. The website is a living entity and is never completely finished. I welcome all feedback and encourage you to contact DLSPH’s communications office with ideas and comments.
My hope for the website, the upcoming year and our School’s new composition, including JCB and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, is that, together, we have a renewed common purpose and passion for health and a new sense of dedication to improving population health, creating healthy public policies and preventing disease.
I wish our thriving community of teachers, researchers, students and professionals a prosperous school year.
Best regards,
Howard Hu
