STAGE mentor France Gagnon receives Graduate Teaching Award for Early Career Excellence

France Gagnon, a Professor of Epidemiology in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and co-director of the Canadian Institute for Health Research’s STAGE program, received a 2014 Faculty of Medicine Graduate Teaching Award for Early Career Excellence, a student-nominated award celebrating outstanding contributions to graduate education.
Professor Gagnon received many wonderful letters from students and colleagues describing her as exemplifying, “what it means to be a dedicated mentor who demonstrates affection for high quality research skills and is continually helping her trainees to reach their full potential.”
As stated by her students, “Dr. Gagnon exhibited passion and enthusiasm, which fostered student interest,” “provides honest and constructive feedback related to dissertation research and career advice,” and “has a knack for recognizing — and filling — gaps in people’s training.”
The awards will be presented at the Faculty of Medicine’s Education Achievement Celebration on May 13, 2014.
