DLSPH awards at IGES
October 23/2012
Recently at the annual International Genetic Epidemiology Society meeting on Oct 18-20, at Stevenson, Washington USA several DLSPH members were honoured.
Dr. Shelley Bull received the IGES leadership award. Shelley has been instrumental in shaping our group and being a role model for all of us, in addition to her contribution to the international society.
PhD student, Laura Faye, won the Williams Award (best abstract/presentation by a PhD student) based on her second thesis project: Re-ranking next generation sequencing variants for accurate causal variant identification. She has previously won two consecutive student presentation awards from the Canadian Statistical Genetics and Genetic Epidemiology annual meetings.
Another Toronto student, Andriy Derkach, was also among the 3 Williams Award finalists. Although he is from the Department of Statistics, Andriy is among the first group of STAGE trainees.
Lei Sun was also selected as a member of the Editorial Board for Genetic Epidemiology, the official journal of IGES.
