I have a number of active projects and prospective PhD students are encouraged to ask about potential available projects. I am no longer able to supervise students who wish to work on research topics outside my areas of focus.

Primary Teaching Responsibilities

  • On sabbatical (2023-2024), visiting colleagues and mentors at the Yale University Public Health Modeling Unit (https://ysph.yale.edu/school-of-public-health-faculty/public-health-modeling/).
  • Teaching assignments upon return TBD.

I am a Professor in the Division of Epidemiology. I am a Full Member of the School of Graduate Studies, and co-lead the Readiness Stream at the University of Toronto Institute for Pandemics with Prof. Jeffrey Siegel (https://civmin.utoronto.ca/home/about-us/directory/professors/jeffrey-siegel/).

Current Research Projects

  • Current work is focussed on epidemiology and modeling of infectious diseases, with a focus on respiratory viruses, pathogen-pathogen interactions, emerging infections, and attributable fractions.
  • I am increasingly interested in the interface between epidemiology and engineering for prevention of airborne infections like SARS-CoV-2 and influenza.
